T50

With the T50, Torpado opens the doors to a new generation of XC bikes, Post-Bike, made entirely of advanced composite materials, and designed for the latest technical specifications of the brand new high-performance components.

Post-International or Post-Mount?

Already for the last couple of years, manufacturers of amortized bike forks proposed the “direct attack” as their solution for mounting the caliper for the disc brake. This device, coming from the motorcycle world under the name of “Radial Attachment” and referred to in our specific field as "post-mount," has immediately found widespread employment, thanks to the ease of application / adjustment and the rigidity of the resulting system: disc-caliper-stem. Basically the “International standard” support for the brake caliper disappears, and the interface is reduced to a simple coupling between the clamp and the left vertical sheath. The positive experience of the post-mount revealed itself also in the delicate balance of the rear brake and the result today can be appreciated by trying the T50 Torpado. The standard adopted is for a Ø160mm disc, but with some simple adapters it is possible to adapt the caliper to 180 mm discs, without having to change the frame. If it was not enough, the "post-mount" interface is entirely made in carbon and, thanks to this contribution, the frame weight has been brought to 1050 g in size M.

PRESS FIT 92

Also the bottom bracket is revolutionary. Thanks to the contribution of the components manufacturers in proposing new technological devices to reduce weight and increase rigidity, there finally are new standards for the bottom brackets. In particular, the new solution "Press-fit”, which complements the movement bearings inside the frame box, allows to increase the width of the bottom bracket up to 92 mm, without changing the Q-factor of the cranks. This allows the crank-set and the left crank to flex less, and thanks to the increased pipelines of the down-tube and of the horizontal chain-stays of the T50, there is an increase of rigidity and reactivity during use.

Integrated cables

Besides the latest technological devices, another advantage of the T50 is the excellent gearshift-to-derailleur transmission integrated into the frame. Through special stop-sheaths, placed on the down-tube near the intersection with the steering, transmission commands cables enter inside the frame and exit at the height of the bottom bracket. Thanks to a special stop-sheath the cables come out and are sent back to the gearshift and the derailleur. The advantage translates into a greater cleanliness of the transmission which, if subjected to filth by external agents as in traditional external transmission systems, could stop working correctly.
