A way more than 100 years long which is continuing with Mountain bike.

The Torpado brand, born in Padua 1895 by the Company Torresini, has been going through three centuries of history and is still being a name well engraved on its fans’ mind, young and less young. It was a time when technology did not play the lord and master, a time when what counted was the strength and the passion more than  any other thing.

Since some years ago, the brand has been taken over by Esperia Group, a well-known company which has been working for 20 years on the bike production filed at an international level.

The strong will of  upholding such a famous name has induced the company to create an official mountain bike team, Torpado Surfingshop, managed by Claudio Cimatti, the owner of the shop having  the same name situated in Milano Marittima.  This year Surfingshop, which has been operating in the mountain bike field for many years, thanks to the union with  Torpado will grown stronger with the arrival of new promising young people.

Besides the Olympic champion Yader Zoli, who will be the real stalwart of the group, there will be, as a matter of fact, Andrea Tiberi year of birth 1985, now at his third year in the Elite category. To underline the “green line”  that Torpado has decided to follow, there are three very young people who have many things to learn but who will never draw back: Urban Ferencak, Slovenian, year of birth 1992, Lorenzo Martelli,  a just 21 year-old Florentine  , and Neje Cernilogar, Slovenian  and of the same age as Martinelli.

The athletes will be supervised, from technical point of view, by Gianfranco Angioli,  during a 2010 which has a calendar full of engagements, beginning from the Cross Country Wold Cup, already on stage with the first round on 24^th  and 25^th April in Dalby Forest ( UK), going through the Europeans championships and the Cross Country World Championships, between July and September, and concluding  with Italian Championship, always in July.

The most important  national and international Marathon races will not be disregarded.

The mountain bike used by Yader Zoli and Andrea Tiberi will be the Torpado T50 Flare, assembled with the top-of-the-range.

An important news will be the “Torpado Lab”, managed by Dr Gianni Posabella, ex doctor of the national team who, along with the osteopath of the national team of the Bmx, Giorgio Caiterzi, will follow the team from the sports-medical point of view. Emanuele Gibilisco, still active in the Team of last year, will continue being part of the group, even if he will attend less races, but of course bringing his important experience to younger athletes.

It will be preserved the traditional colour distinguishing the Torpado brand, the sky blue on a white background. The logo, on the other hand, has been totally  restyled by keeping , however, the connection with  the tradition of the Winged Horse which portrayed the old brand of Padua, being the herald of many victories between the Fifties and the Sixties.
